Professor R. Chandramouli (Mouli) is the Thomas Hattrick Professor of Information Systems in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at Stevens Institute of Technology.  He visited the School on Monday as a Distinguished Lecturer from the IEEE Communications Society.

His talk entitled “Dynamic Spectrum Access Wireless Networking” gave insight into how to improve the usage of the available spectrum by sharing different parts of the spectrum dynamically in real time. An example might be a Wi-Fi network and a cellular network offloading traffic to each other when one becomes congested.

While this is a good idea, there are tough challenges that need to be addressed: technical, economic and policy based. Prof Mouli made a potentially difficult topic easily accessible to the non-expert.
