Syllabus: 
  • Number systems. Fixed point and floating point binary arithmetic.
  • Basic microprocessor architectural modules:Registers; control, data and address busses; memory; central processing unit; arithmetic logic units; multipliers; dividers; barrel shifters. Assembly language, macros, subroutines, stacks, bank switching, interrupt nesting, foreground/background processing, simulators and compilers.
  • Basic microprocessor based combinational logic circuit design:Karnaugh maps, decoders, encoders, multiplexers and demultiplexers, adders, subtractors, multipliers, comparitors. Design and analysis of microprocessor related sequential circuits, such as asynchronous and synchronous serial communication ports, oscillators and timers.
  • Microprocessor Interfacing: Peripheral Devices and Real-time embedded system hardware and software design.
