This course will explore the concepts, principles and architecture of modern communication networks, making reference to appropriate examples from the Internet and public telephony networks (PSTN). Communication networks are widely used in society today as more and more people use these technologies to communicate and perform a wide variety of tasks. The aim of the course is to provide a sound basis of the principles of communication networks so that students have substantial insight into the design and operation of networks.
