EIE Top 100 Campaign

Wits Electrical and Information Engineering graduates are proud of their degrees and value the academic experience they received — and for very good reason: over the years the School has been home to many internationally respected academics and is well known for its research and the quality of its undergraduate programmes.

“This legacy has given the School tremendous credibility over the last eight decades of its existence,” says Professor Ian Jandrell, Head of the School of Electrical and Information Engineering. “However, our greatest accomplishments are our graduates, who have become leaders of industry and occupy top positions in South Africa and abroad.”

Top 100 Universities

Vice Chancellor Professor Loyiso Nongxa has stated that Wits aims to be ranked among the World’s top 100 Universities by the year 2022. We welcome this goal, recognizing the importance of excellence in education and research as critical to the growth and success of South Africa.

In line with this strategy the School, with the support of our Industrial Advisory Board (IAB),has launched the Electrical and Information Engineering Top 100 Campaign, which aims to raise R15 million over five years to help maintain the excellence of the School in its teaching, learning and research.

“Wits Engineering alumni have a personal understanding of the need for more high-calibre graduates like themselves,” says Peter Spyres, IAB Chairman. “They have lived the process, applied themselves in the tremendous effort required and continue to reap the rewards of their investment,” he said.
